We had a really successful on Saturday, it was very practical with new people signing up and trading straight away. Thank you to everyone who came and took part, we got to know each other and built a sense of community.

We traded some bread, vegetables, clothes, jewellery, toys, and exhibited some art for a total of 66 Waves which also generated some income for the exchange administration account. It worked well for the Community Fridge that brought food which was freely given but donations in waves were given. This is good not only for those who received food but also for the Community Fridge which will be able to reward volunteers, buy equipment, etc…

Individuals who joined were immediately able to start trading with other people, it was a practical learning experience appreciated by many.

We had some great ideas for future in-person meetups such as:

  • using the meeting room as art exhibition using artwork from members (photographer Aaron Doherty will be our first featured artist),
  • indoor car boot sale at the Sandel Centre, we are looking for a location for an outdoor car boot sale,
  • evening BBQ (bring your own food or trade)
  • movie night with admission and refreshments traded in Waves
  • seasonal market (craft coming up to xmas, food market in the Summer)

If there is any aspect of the community exchange system that you would like demonstrated/clarified please get in touch and we will address it during our next online-meeting.
