We met at the Mount Sandel Centre in Coleraine on Saturday April 5th to celebrate The North Coast Community Exchange’s 3rd anniversary. It’s a great achievement to reach this point and it was celebrated with a delicious birthday and a great meeting.
It was good to see so many new faces (welcome to John, Ciara, Marina and Sheila) and it was acknowledged that the recent Magpie event, that NCCE was involved in, generated alot of interest and new members.
Participants were reminded that everyone is welcome to donate surplus waves to organisations and charities that are doing great work in the community : Reach (NCCE0063), Swell (NCCE0035), Coastal Vocals (NCCE0085)
After an introduction and explanation of the system by Olivier and Elaine, everyone took it in turns to tell us about their experience, understanding, expections of the system and their offers and wants.
The diversity of the offers now available is very exciting. Also, the geographical areas now covered is growing steadily.
A few established members there offered to contact new members and get the idea of a Buddy System started.
If you need any help, feel free to contact a buddy in your area:
- Coleraine: Olivier (NCCE0001) or Elaine (NCCE0003)
- Portrush: Bruno (NCCE0010)
- Ballycastle: Pauline (NCCE0006)
There was a stall for small items, such as books, plants, seeds and clothes and quite a few transactions took place on the day.
It was acknowledged that the Sandel Centre is a very good venue for the Coleraine meetings and Murray was thanked for his help and the organisation’s generosity in letting us use the room.
There was a discussion on a NCCE team working day at Liz’s farm in Donegal.
At the end of the meeting people had the opportunity to talk to each other in more detail and exchange phone numbers.
